Daily Devotional #1,819

I admit it…I got hooked on something on social media. I saw one and it just became addictive. It is called  “Fridays with Frank”. “Frank” is a Sheriff’s Deputy in Pinal County in Arizona. He is on traffic patrol and  they have him travel with the regular cameras that all law enforcement cars have, but he also has a professional  cameraman with him as well. The show is literally him finding people breaking laws and then being pulled  over and then the interaction between them and Deputy Frank. What is amazing is how shocked people are that  they should be pulled over and even ticketed for traveling 20 plus miles over the speed limit. That is a choice  that they made and are now held accountable for it. Now Frank is in an unmarked car and so they are surprised  when all of a sudden someone is going their speed and then the red and blue lights come on. So often, they are  incensed that he should be enforcing the law…that they have broken. And the crazy thing is that so many of the
folks on these episodes get pulled over and then their license plates are run, and the car isn’t even registered.  And it isn’t unusual for folks to be driving without a valid license, and some have never received a driver’s  license! And the Deputy reminds them that if they hadn’t been speeding, he would never have known all the  bad stuff that they were hiding. But it all comes out once “judgement day” comes with that traffic stop. I bet  most of us live like that to some degree or another. We just don’t think that rules apply to us. And that even  goes with how we treat the God of the Bible. God tells us that he loves us…the whole world of us. And he has  loved us so much that on that first Easter week he gave his only son to die on the cross for our sins…all of us,  for all of our sin. And the offer is that if we will believe in him we will not perish…but have eternal life with  him. But that means that the opposite is true also. If we don’t believe in him…then we do perish…and we  don’t get eternal life. Every driver pulled over and ticketed or even taken to jail for speeding made the choice  as to whether or not they would obey the law. Everyone of us has the choice to either accept this gift of the Son  of God into our lives…or just put the pedal to the metal and try to outrun God. But we know we  can’t…because all of us will die and leave this earth. There will be no arguing with God that we were just  “following traffic” away from him all our lives. God wants us to be with him forever…but we make the choice  and we are responsible for that choice. Choose wisely and drive safely all the way home to heaven with the  guarantee that when you accept Christ…all those sins are forgiven forever. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
John 3:16 BSB For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in  Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Remember I’m praying for you…
