Daily Devotional #1,830

One of the special times I remember with my Dad was getting to stay up late to watch the “Tonight Show” with  Johnny Carson. All the other family would head to bed, but if it was a Friday or a vacation day, he would  occasionally ask if I would like to stay up…and my answer was always “yes”! One of the things I remember  about Johnny Carson was that when it came time for a commercial, he would always say the same thing: “I’ll be  right back!” That was such a part of his persona that he once said he wanted that on his tombstone. We are still  just days past from Easter, and I thought that was something that God could have put on that tomb that Jesus  was laid in after dying on the cross. Why is it important that he rose from the dead? If you are a follower of  this Jesus of the Bible, you are bound to him and because he resurrected and lives forever…you will also live.  Are you going to die? Yeah…but the Bible tells us that to be absent from our bodies (die) means that we are  present with the Lord. The Apostle Paul wrote, in his letter to the Romans (6:8) that if we died bound to Christ,  we know that we will also live with Him. That’s the power of Easter. Death is real…but we live life that
swallows up even death itself. That’s the promise of the Bible. And what we see in the Bible is that there a  resurrection and there will be a new heaven and a new earth. So remember that if you’ve put your trust in the  Jesus, it won’t be out of line to put on your tombstone “I’ll be right back”. Because there is a tomorrow that  God promises all those who believe in him…even in the experience of death itself. Here’s our Bible verse for  today…
John 14:19 NLT Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live.
Remember I’m praying for you…
