It was 1924 and a youngsters dad had brought him to Washington D.C. and he was standing in a line with his father inside the White House, waiting to meet President Calvin Coolidge. As they neared him, The boy noticed that the President of the United States said something to each visitor as they shook hands. Soon, the thrilling
moment arrived. The young man put his small hand into the President’s. Then the President said words he said he will always remember… “Move along.” Well, we can hardly blame President Coolidge with all the people who wanted to be with him in person and actually shake his hand. But sometimes we kind of feel that way with God. You know, God wants you to come up and be in his presence and even shake his hand, but you are just one of umpteen millions of people. And so we might expect God to look at us kindly, shake our hand and then in a friendly way ask us to move on so he can get to the next anonymous individual. But that isn’t what the Bible says that God is like. King David wrote a psalm, and he started it out by saying that God has examined your heart and knows everything about you. He knows your name, but he also knows your dreams and your hurts, your loves and your sins. Even when you aren’t focused on him…he still knows your thoughts. He sees you when you travel and when you are resting at home because he knows everything you do. He even knows what you are going to say before you say it. You are not a nameless body in some line of humanity…you are known and loved intimately by the God who made you, who lost you, who bought you back and you are now his prized possession. And he thinks so much of you that he will go before you and he will follow you and he will place his hand of blessing on you…because he is just crazy in love with you. There is no line to stand in…go to that one who loves you more than anyone ever will or ever could today. He is waiting for you right now! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Psalms 139:1-5 NLT O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. (2) You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. (3) You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. (4) You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. (5) You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Remember I’m praying for you…
