Many years ago, I had a friend who was a pilot with United Airlines, and he would come by my office, and he’d tell me stories about military and commercial flying. He told one story of a United crew that was flying from San Francisco to Honolulu, Hawaii. They were all set to go and headed out over the Pacific with a plane load of passengers and as time passed, they realized that there was something wrong. They had an early navigational computer and yet they were not headed to Hawaii. They checked the settings on the computer and realized that the plane had traveled from Los Angeles to San Francisco with another crew and the current pilots haor they would be lost. They never made it to Hawaii but got back to San Francisco with a planeload of disgruntled passengers and had to face some angry United Airlines executives. I’ve thought about that incident and realized that’s pretty much what happens in our world of people today. Whatever we are basing our journey of life on, it determines what our destination will be, either “home” or lost. The Bible claims that all scripture is inspired by God and it will show us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It gives us the path that the manufacturer of humans (God) sets for us to get to heaven with Him. We have the choice to program our personal, internal “computer” with anything we want. But the Bible says in Psalm 119:105 that God’s Word is a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path. Whatever you choose to set as your starting place for life…that will determine your direction and your eternal destination. So don’t be careless like that airline crew but check in with God through his words in the Bible and the promise is that you’ll make it to where he and you want you to end your journey of life here on this planet. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
2 Timothy 3:16 NLT All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
