Did the thought of your salvation bring you great joy yesterday? How about the day before? When was the last time you were just joy-filled because you knew that God had saved you? King David knew that joy…and then he lost it. He made some big mistakes in his life and the joy of being around God and talking to God had faded. He didn’t stop believing in God, but the joy that he once knew wasn’t there. David hadn’t lost his salvation but he had lost the joy of it. And there will be times when that has or will happen to you. The excitement you felt began to feel like a duty or a job. Joy can fade and even disappear. Real joy doesn’t come from our circumstances, but from God. So, what do you do when you find yourself having your joy dulled by sin or just busyness, distractions and a packed daily routine? How do you get that joy back? The first thing we need to do is to be honest with God. If it is sin…be honest with God…do you really think he doesn’t know? Confess it and ask for forgiveness. It starts there. Next, remember how good God is. He has forgiven you, saved you and made you his child. Thank him. That is a key part in fueling the joy in your life. And then, just like King David did…just ask God. Ask him to restore your joy. Ask him to restore that joy to your heart and to your daily life. God will be there and he is always ready to bring you joy to your heart and mind and soul. All you have to do is ask. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Psalms 51:12 NLT Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.
Remember I’m praying for you…
