A guy was asked “What do you gain from all your praying?” The guy replied “Nothing”. As a matter of fact, I’ve lost so much in my life from my prayers. “What did you lose from praying?” His friend asked again. “Well, I lost my anger and then my ego and after that my greed. I kept praying and I lost my depression and then my insecurity and finally I lost my fear of death. God has given me some of the things I’ve asked for, and he has not given me some of the others I’ve prayed for. But my losses have been the biggest gains in my life.” The good news is that God listens to every prayer we bring to him. Psalms 66:19-20 NLT “But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer. (20) Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer or withdraw his unfailing love from me.” But God does not automatically give us whatever we ask for. He has his plan and his will is what we are looking for in our journey here on earth. And while those times when we don’t get what we prayed for can bring disappointment to our hearts, we need to remember that when we pray, we are asking for God’s best for our lives and the lives of others. I don’t know all the plans that God has for you and me, but I am convinced that he loves me more than anyone ever has or could.. So I keep praying and God keeps working on my heart and mind and soul. And like that guy who lost so much, I’m praying that I will lose a lot of that kind of stuff from my heart too. And I hope like crazy that you will also! Keep praying…about everything. Be honest with God and tell him what you need. But make sure you thank him for all that he has done, including the ordinary things of this day. And when you do this as a part of your journey, you will begin to lose parts of your life and he can take the sword out of our hearts. Pray and let God give you peace…peace which will be beyond anything you can understand. And you just might start losing some stuff…and find out that it has brought your heart and spirit much gain. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Philippians 4:6-7 NLT Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. (7) Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Remember I’m praying for you…
