A submarine was being tested and had to remain submerged for many hours. When it returned to the harbor, the captain was asked, "How did the terrible storm last night affect you?" The officer looked at him in surprise and exclaimed, "Storm? We didn't even know there was one!" The sub had been so far beneath the surface that it had reached the area known to sailors as "the cushion of the sea." Although the ocean may be whipped into huge waves by high winds, in this area, the waters are never stirred. There are a lot of waves and storms that come to us in life. Like a hurricane, things like anxiety and dread and discouragement and disappointment will come over us and we just can’t stop them from happening. But when we remain close and dependent on this Jesus of the Bible we become like that submarine. The storms will rage, but we can have that “cushion of the sea” in our lives too. The Bible tells us that those who live in the shelter of God will find rest there. In him we will find safety if we will go to him with trust in his protection and provision. His promise to anyone who comes to him is that he will cover you and shelter you. And his promises are the covering that he brings and the security he gives to those who will run for refuge in Jesus. Bad stuff is going to happen just like storms are a part of our weather here on earth. But you have protection…if you want it and will run to it. God is holding the door open for you to come in…to a place where you will be sheltered, protected and rescued from every attack that will come your way. Don’t get beat up by the storms of life…God is asking you to come to him and let him wrap his heavenly arms around you and whisper to your heart that you are going to be ok. That you are going to make it. Shelter, encouragement and hope are just a prayer away. He is waiting for you with his door open!. Here’s our Bible verse for today…

(2) This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. (3) For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. (4) He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
