Mom and Dad took their little boy to this place where they had puppies for sale. And there was a dog that had a big litter, and it was just mutts, so it wasn't anything really exotic, just ordinary dogs. But this was the first time the little boy had ever gotten to pick out a puppy, and mom and dad said to him, "Now, son, you go ahead and pick out the puppy that you want." So, he was looking at all these puppies. And he finally said, "I want that one," and he pointed to a particular puppy that was continually wagging his tail. And his dad said to him, "Well, son, why did you choose that one?" He said, "That one's got a happy ending." We love happy endings. Whether it be a book or a movie or event or journey. All of us want to see and experience a great ending. How about you and me? We are on a journey…don’t we want to have a happy ending? Of course we do! But doesn’t everyone get that? For those who follow this Jesus of the Bible, we are promised that there is a happy ending to your journey here on earth. The Bible is pretty realistic about life and reminds us that as we look to the end of our journey, our bodies often are just worn out. So where’s the happy ending? The Bible says that those who have that love relationship with God experience their dying bodies being swallowed up by life! That you get an upgrade from God himself. The problem is that as long as we live in these bodies, we can’t be home with the Lord. For us then, to be absent from these bodies is to be present with the Lord. So we look at death as the end, but the Bible says that it is the happy ending! We will be home…with the Lord. The one who has loved you from before you were born. And has loved more than anyone ever has or ever could. The promise is that even when we say “goodbye” as you leave this earth, you are promised that the best is yet to come. Come to this Jesus today and make sure that yours will be a “happy ending.” Here’s our Bible verse for today…
2 Corinthians 5:4-8 NLT While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. (5) God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit. (6) So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. (7) For we live by believing and not by seeing. (8) Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.
