Daily Devotional #1870

Driving through Texas, a New Yorker collided with a truck carrying a horse. A few months later he tried to  collect damages for his injuries. "How can you now claim to have all these injuries?" asked the insurance  company's lawyer. "According to the police report, at the time you said you were not hurt." "Look," replied the  New Yorker. "I was lying on the road in a lot of pain, and I heard someone say the horse had a broken leg. The  next thing I know this Texas Ranger pulls out his gun and shoots the horse. Then he turns to me and asks, “Are  you okay?'" I looked up at him and said, “I’m just fine, thank you!” You know, we hurt a lot of times. We get  hurt and like that New Yorker, we feel like it is somehow just too dangerous to open up and let others know our  pain. Maybe we think we too will just get “shot” somehow. So, what do you do? King David wrote a Psalm  when he was struggling in life, and he was reluctant to share the deepest pain in his heart. So, he wrote that he  cried out to the Lord. That he would pour out all his complaints and tell him everything that was going on in his  life and in his heart. There will be times when you are just overwhelmed and the Bible reminds us that while it  is good to have a “person” to share our burdens with, God alone knows the way that you need to turn right now.  So, if you have a friend that won’t “shoot” you when you struggle with pain, share that with them and ask them  to stand with you in prayer. But remember that God is always there, and he already knows where you hurt and  why you hurt. God’s call is to all those who are heavy burdened; to come to him and he will share the burden  with you and will give you rest when you need it, help when you want it and will bring you healing when you  ask for it. Tell him today…right now…where your pain is and he will begin the healing and you will not ever  have to carry that alone again. Here’s our Bible verse for today…

Psalms 142:1-3 NLT I cry out to the LORD; I plead for the LORD’s mercy. (2) I pour out my complaints  before him and tell him all my troubles. (3) When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn.
Remember I’m praying for you…
