Daily Devotional #1878

The most important man in his country wanted him dead and nowhere was he safe. He went to the sworn  enemies of his people, and they wanted to kill him too and he escaped by pretending to be hopelessly insane.  He was let go and he finds himself in a cave with other men who are fugitives in his country too. And his name  was David, the man who would be king and would be called a man after God’s heart and the man from whose  line the promised messiah Jesus would be connected. But that was all in the future. On this day, his life is a  mess and he does the unthinkable. He writes a Psalm, we call it Psalm 34, and in it he says that he praises the  Lord at all times…and that he will boast only in the Lord. And then he reminds us who feel helpless today to  take heart. And to remember the Lord’s greatness and honor him. He said that he prayed and God freed him  from all his fears. There are a lot of things that bring fear to our hearts. And I bet just about everyone has some  fear they deal with today. He said that when he purposely and forcefully put his trust in the Lord…God freed  him from all his fears. His life was a mess, but God is bigger than any crisis, fear or danger you may see out  there for you. Stop where you are and do as David did. Start thanking God for what he has done and then tell  him you trust him for what he will do. Speak of his greatness in the history of us on this earth but also of the all  that he has done in your life. And then keep praying…God is going to answer. And he will free you from the  oppression of your fears. Trust him…God’s got this. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Psalm 34:1-4 NLT I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. (2) I will boast only  in the LORD; let all who are helpless take heart. (3) Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his  name together. (4) I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.
Remember I’m praying for you…
