Today I will preach for the last time…to two of our wonderful friends. They are moving to Tennessee! I can remember the first Sunday that they came into our church, we were meeting in a temporary cafeteria at a new elementary school. They sat through the service and afterwards I caught up to Mom and Dad, a daughter and two boys. We talked for a minute or two and we were such a new small church that I thought we’d probably
never see them again. Out of nowhere I asked the guys if they ever played paintball. They all lit up and said they had a course at their property out in the country. We played and now it is almost 25 years later. It has been a joy to be able to share life with them, but as Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes there is a time and a season for every activity under heaven. And their story with us each week will end and they will begin a new story with others who I hope will be as delighted with them as we have been. I will miss my friends but I know that no matter what happens in the days ahead God has promised that because of our faith in this Jesus of the Bible, we will ultimately be together again. I will think of them and give thanks to God for their faithfulness, sacrificial work and most of all their friendship. And like the Apostle Paul said to the Philippian church people he loved “Whenever I pray, I make requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ. May God bless you my friends and thanks for the memories! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Philippians 1:3-5 NLT Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. (4) Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, (5) for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ…
Remember I’m praying for you,
