Daily Devotional #1887

You know how you can tell it is going to be a hard day? You wake up face down on the pavement. You see a "60 Minutes" news team waiting in your office. Your birthday cake collapses from the weight of the candles. You turn on the news and they're showing emergency routes out of the city. Your twin sister forgot your birthday. Your car horn goes off accidentally and remains stuck as you follow a group of Hell's Angels on the freeway. Your boss tells you not to bother to take off your coat. The bird singing outside your window is a buzzard. You wake up and your braces are locked together. You call your answering service and they tell you it's none of your business. Your income tax check bounces. You put
both contact lenses in the same eye. Some days are hard. And not the joking around hard…sometimes it is even heartbreaking. So what do you do? Well, the Bible gives us some pretty good advice as to what we can do when it looks like a no good, very bad day. Go to that Bible and hear what God brings to the table…
Psalms 46:1…God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble…go talk to him. 1 Peter 5:7…Cast all your anxieties on Him, Because He cares for you…hand that stuff over to him. Philippians 4:13…I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me…draw strength from Jesus
When you are in a relationship with God, you are not alone. The most powerful person in all creation is there with you and he is there because he loves you so much. And if you aren’t in a relationship with God…you are alone. But you don’t have to be. He is only a prayer away and all this human pilgrimage is our opportunity to reach out to the God who is reaching out to you. And you’ll never be alone again. And his words to you are “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” Bad days will still come…but you will win. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.”
Remember I’m praying for you,
