When things in your life aren't going like you thought they should, or life for you just seems a mess, what's your first thought? Is it ever "OK, nows the time that I'm going to see God really work in my life"? If you are like me, probably not. My first response sometimes is "God, are you really paying attention to all of this?" More than once, God sets the stage to do something wonderful in the midst of the storm people are enduring. There was the prophet Elijah who was about to give up. Then Job who lost everything. Moses was nervous about what God wanted him to do. The Apostle Paul was sitting in jail. And Hannah, who had no hope of having children. But each one of these people saw God meet them in their own personal storm and turn everything around. Storms are going to come into our lives. You know
that, you've sailed through some already I bet. But when the storms engulf our lives and our vision of the future...our task is to worship the God who loves us in the middle of the storm. And we can do that because he tells us that he has ransomed us, he calls us by name and he declares that you are mine. He assures us that we are not to be afraid because you won't go through deep waters alone, you won't drown in the rivers of difficulty and the fires of oppression will not burn you up. And the reason? Because this God of the universe tells his own that he is your Savior. The storms won't be easy, but you will never go through them alone. And your job is to trust in God with all your soul and mind and heart. And like those figures in the Bible that had their own different storms, God met them there and changed everything. The storms will come, choose to worship the God of the storms when they come. He will meet you there. Here's our Bible verse for today...
Isaiah 43:1-3 "Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. (2) When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. (3) For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
