There is the great story of the rich guy who opens the door of his BMW and suddenly a car comes racing by and tears the door off his car. He grabs his cell phone and yells at the police to get to him as fast as they can. When the officer arrives, the guy yells, "Look what they did to my beautiful car! It will never be the same!! The police officer is stunned when he looks at the man and he says "Buddy, you are insane! You are so worried about the car that you didn't even notice your left arm was torn off when the car hit you! The guy looks over at his shoulder and yells "Oh no...what happened to my Rolex? Jesus was talking to people in what we call "The Sermon on the Mount" and he told them and us that where your treasure is...that's where your heart will be also. We live in a world filled with all kinds of stuff that we want and can have. And we seek to find pleasure and satisfaction and contentment in things. But it never works that way. You cannot serve two Masters...you will love one and hate the other. We cannot serve both God and money. There is an old saying that the one who dies with the most toys...wins. Well, the problem is that both die. Yeah.....Jesus said "I came so that you might have life and have it to the fullest". And that not even death can take that away. Don't love stuff...love Jesus. He is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through him. Choose wisely. Here's our Bible verse for today...
Matthew 6:21-24 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (22) The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. (23) But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! (24) No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
