Daily Devotional #1926

I narrowly avoided a serious accident in the car the other day. I was taking my oldest  granddaughter to a meeting and she said “You know Grandpa, I’m going to be 18 in less than  2 ½ years. I took my eyes off the road and stared at her and said “What in the world are you  talking about?” She said “Grandpa, do the math…” I did run the numbers and she was right. I  regained my composure, focused on driving and began to talk to her about the tiny little girl that  I thought I was just holding a few years ago. And now I’m talking to a beautiful, articulate,  young lady sitting next to me! All of a sudden I realized how much life has passed by and the  passage of so many stages of growing up. I love this time and I am grateful to be able to share  the history and also the days of her life now. But it was a reminder of how fast time actually  passes. And that God has told us in his word that there is a time for every activity under heaven.  Solomon, who wrote about there being a time for every activity under heaven also wrote that  God has made everything beautiful for its own time. It is a reminder to me to not waste any days  with dumb and careless stuff. But to treasure each day knowing that once it is past, it will never  come again. So welcome this day and all the days that God gives you and I will do my best to do  it also. Wake up and remember that this is the day that the Lord has made…rejoice and be glad in  it! And don’t forget to do all the good you can while you can…and choose to make God look  good today. Here’s our Bible verse for today… 
Ecclesiastes 3:1 NLT For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
