Daily Devotional #1,753

Today, I’m going to do a service of a guy that I’ve known for nearly 40 years. He was a talented man and loved  by his wife and kids and grandchildren and just about every one of us who had come to know him. So many in  the community will miss him terribly. I know that and so today I will tell them about another man who was a  hard worker, a military man who rose to be the leader of his country. But he had a gift of writing poems that  sometimes were really songs. His name is David and his writings are in the Bible and are called the Psalms.  The one I’m going to “give” them today is the 23rd Psalm because it tells us how we live this life well even  when we suffer great loss of those we love, are discouraged or are overwhelmed by the circumstances we live in  right now. Here is what that that shepherd-poet wrote about the God he knew so many years ago…
Psalm 23:1-6 KJV The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. (2) He maketh me to lie down in green  pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. (3) He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of  righteousness for his name's sake. (4) Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear  no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (5) Thou preparest a table before me in the  presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. (6) Surely goodness and  mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
The guy who wrote this was an imperfect guy…he made a lot of mistakes. And he suffered from terrible losses  in his life. But he never stopped believing in God and trusting in God. This is God’s promise kept for us to  remind us that you are not forgotten, that there will be a tomorrow for you that is good and rich and full and that
God will be close to you, helping you each step of the way of your journey…if you will let him. Let the Lord  be your shepherd this day and every day…because if you do, he will give you everything you will ever truly  need. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Psalm 23:1-6 KJV The LORD is my shepherd…
Remember I’m praying for you…
